MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of The Conservative Forum of Silicon Valley is to promote the principles of American liberty through education. As the recognized conservative non-partisan umbrella organization in the Bay Area, we are the place for conservatives from Silicon Valley and beyond to gather, share ideas and become empowered.

“Chinese Girl in the Ghetto: A Personal Story of Defeating the Welfare State”

Ying Ma is a senior vice president of SDB Partners, a strategic advisory firm, and a policy advisor of the Heartland Institute, a free-market think tank. She has previously served as a visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution of War, Revolution and Peace at Stanford University, practiced law at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, managed corporate communications at Sina.com (the first Mainland China-based Internet company to list on the NASDAQ Stock Market) and served on the first professional staff of the Congressional U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission.

Ms. Ma is the author of Chinese Girl in the Ghetto, a memoir chronicling her journey of getting to know freedom from post-Mao Communist China to inner-city Oakland, California. Well known in Washington, DC and across the country, Ms. Ma writes regularly about China, international affairs, and the free market. Her articles have appeared in the Wall Street Journal Asia, the Los Angeles Times, the Weekly Standard, Foxnews.com and elsewhere, and here is a video link of her views: http://video.foxnews.com/v/1535865628001/.

Ms. Ma received a B.A. in Government, magna cum laude, from Cornell University and a J.D. from Stanford Law School.
