The Transformation of America
Report by Howard Myers
Tom Tancredo kept the audience of almost 300 people captivated, and in the end, asking for more. He covered many topics from immigration (legal and illegal), to causes of impeachment, to our schools.
When Tom first went to Congress he had a burning issue, ‘immigration’. Not just illegal but the entire concept of immigration. Immigration without assimilation is deadly. People were not accepting our culture.
There is a great expense of illegal immigration in terms of law enforcement, medical care, education, etc. This cost is not paid back in taxes, as some say, but in fact, many illegal immigrants file taxes and end up getting tax credits for dependents they claim that live in Mexico. (If they even exist).
When he was in Congress, Tom took advantage of the special order that allowed anyone to address the floor between adjournment and midnight. The house was empty and it looked like he was talking to himself, but when he left the floor he could hear the faxes humming. Between the faxes and emails, Tom knew his message was being heard via CSPAN and this gave him the energy to do it again.
Tom got a call from a reporter at the LA Times about the closing of the Roy Rogers Museum in Victorville. He wondered why they would call him about this, but it wasn’t why he called. The reporter went to Victorville to ask residents what they thought about the closing and at a local bar a Latino woman told him “There is a revolution going on and it doesn’t include no f-ing Roy Rogers or Bob Hope.” The reporter wanted to talk about the cultural war that is going on. The culture is everything.
The cult of multi-culturalism does not allow for a positive view of America.
There was a video interview with people who voted for Obama. When they were asked they didn’t have any concrete answer other than they liked him, or he was black. The interviewer started interjecting suggestions that were the opposite of the truth, such as do you like him because he will stay in Iraq, or because he is against abortion, or because he picked Sara Palin as a running mate. And the people being interviewed agreed that yes, one of these reasons was why they voted for him, clearly indicating they were not informed voters. Tom has suggested a civics literacy test before being allowed to vote, but of course this never got legs.
Tom said that on July 4th this year he felt like he was celebrating American history, not the present.
Even if Obama looses every state he has done so much damage will it matter? He has committed very many impeachable offenses and still congress refuses to act.
Tom went through a long list of crimes starting with the cover-up of Fast & Furious down through making terrorist interrogation methods public, not securing the borders, lying about deportation figures, and more than I could hope to keep up with.
If you don’t impeach based on the many, many crimes what will happen the next time we have a dictator in chief? He/she will look at all Obama got away with and go even further?
A scary thing is that the cult of multi-culturalism does not allow for a positive view of America. When Tom was asked to speak at the opening of a new school he saw all the best equipment, newest gadgets, everything a privileged student could ask for. The students were all lined up on one side and the teachers on the other as he gave his talk. He asked, ‘isn’t this a great school?’ and got a big cheer. Isn’t the team great? And another big cheer. Then he asked, “Isn’t America great?”, followed by dead silence.
These students, with all the advantages that could be heaped upon them could not accept that they lived in a great country. He asked them again, “How about America?”, still nothing. At this point he looked around at the group of students and the group of teachers and said, “I don’t have time to disabuse you of all that these people (pointing at the teachers) have fed you, but you live in the greatest country in the world.” When they open the gates around the world the people only go one way. To the west, because they know it is something better. When they open the gates they only go one way because it is better, or at least it was.
Tom Tancredo suggested we propose a resolution for our local school board. “Every student graduating must be able to demonstrate an appreciation for Western Civilization. Tom was very well received and had a lively Q&A session that had to be cut short due to going overtime.
