Report By Richard Geno
Our October meeting started an hour earlier than usual so that 90 of our members could watch the presidential debate between Senators John McCain and Barack Obama. Following the debate, Steve Frank, a very experienced political consultant, discussed the debate; and then shared with us what is going on in politics nationally and in the state of California. Steve initially commented upon the presidential debate. He indicated that while McCain did okay on the debate, he needed to do more since he is a little behind with less than four weeks before the election.
Steve also talked in length about several horror stories going on in Sacramento, along with terrible things being done by ACORN in the area of voter registration and voter fraud. He indicated that the recent budget deal written by the legislature and signed by the governor was a "lie." The potential deficit for the year will be somewhere between $15-18 Billion unless the budget is re-visited. He juxtaposed two great quotes, "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch," and "Every dollar more in taxes gives us less freedom."
Finally, he made the following recommendations on the California propositions on the November 4, 2008 ballot:
1A - No 2 - No 3 - No 4 - Yes 5 - No 6 - Yes 7 - No 8 - Yes
9 - Yes 10 - No 11 - Yes 12 - Yes
