Bob Parkhurst

Bob Parkhurst was happy to join the Conservative Forum because he feels conservatives need a nonpartisan organization as a central place to connect. He is a member of the Conservative Forum Letter-writing Group. He spent thirty-three years as a research chemist at Stanford Research Institute.

He authored or co-authored many scientific publications. He is a registered Democrat for the last forty years but votes for the person or the issue not the political party. After retirement in 1993, he continued his interest in art, family history and local affairs. He authored the book, “The Best of Times: A Life in California” (Available through Borders Books) that is intended to show the reader that conservatism makes sense. He helped organize the Alliance of California Artists (ACA) and he is a charter member and signature member of this Fresno based group. This is an umbrella group that includes many other California art groups.

Bob has been a judge for the Alliance of California Artists, Belmont Arts Council and Society of Western Artists. He is a past vice president of the Sequoia Art Group (SAG) and twice past president earning his signature award in 2001. He is a member of the San Carlos Fine Arts Association (SCFAA) and past vice president of the Society of Western Artists (SWA) earning his signature award in 1998. He has won many ribbons for his artwork including the Bay Area Bank Award he won at the Redwood City Spring Art Show in 2000. Bob belongs to the Redwood City, San Carlos and Belmont writing groups and started “Town Talk”, a discussion group in the Redwood City Senior Center. He lives in Redwood City with his wife, Marge. They have two grown children.
