SPEAKER SERIES

October 2007

Guest Speaker:  Tim Morgan

Tim Morgan with recognition award from The Conservative Forum

Our October speaker was Tim Morgan, national Treasurer of the Republican Party. Tim told the audience that he was a volunteer and did his work for love of country. He
pointed out that the Democrats and the leftist groups like MoveOn.org would spend $2 Billion during the 2008 election cycle while the Republicans and conservative groups would spent approximately $500 Million - one-fourth the amount of the opposition.

He indicated that there was a great deal at stake in the 2008 elections. If the Democrats get elected, he predicted that the following would happen:

1. Repeal of Bush tax cuts.
2. Preservation of death taxes.
3. Union domination.
4. Socialized medicine.
5. Unilateral surrender in the war on terrorism.

Tim recommended a five-step approach towards the political process:

1. Know who you are, and what you stand for
2. Choose your battles carefully. With limited time, limited energy and limited money, we must apply our resources much more effectively if we are to win.
3. Look for humor in the political situations.
4. Conduct yourself in a civil manner. Disagree without being disagreeable.
5. Don't watch Television news.
