SPEAKER SERIES

October 2009

E. Floyd Kvamme

Mr. Kvamme said the entire concept of global warming is based on an invalid hypothesis.

More than 200 people packed the room at the American Legion Hall for the sixth consecutive month as Floyd Kvamme discussed energy and the politics of energy. Floyd started out by indicating that he had a great respect for those involved in government policy. Despite some of our major disagreements, we have a good system.

As science advisor to President George W. Bush, he felt that it was more important for the United States to be "energy secure" as opposed to energy independent. He pointed out that nuclear power is the solution to clean abundant energy. He shared a little known fact that there are 41% fewer air pollutants today than there were thirty years ago.

The entire concept of global warming is based on an invalid hypothesis. Cap and trade would provide over 1,000 new mandates on energy for inconclusive scientific reasons. The government has determined that CO2 is a pollutant, when in reality, it is a necessity of life. Without it, we would freeze to death. He pointed out that the truth about C02 needs to be told.

The problem with the relationship between government and business is that the government does not understand business, and it has no ability to run business. The energy policies initiated in recent years by government have caused the United States to lose its competitive edge in the world.
