General Meeting/Christmas Party

Bob Nystrom leads a discussion on "Dialoguing with Liberals"

The Conservative Forum had a wonderful Annual Meeting/Christmas Party on December 4th. Excellent refreshments were served throughout the evening. President Richard Geno gave a 10-minute "State of the Forum" message, highlighting all of the accomplishments for the year. Bill May, our Treasurer, gave a report on the finances of the organization, indicating that we are financially stable, but not ready for some of the ambitious plans that the Board of Directors has outlined in its 3-year plans.

We elected five new members to the Board of Directors, bringing our board to 15 members. We also elected our 2008 officers as follows:

President - Richard Geno
VP Programs - Jack Mallory
Treasurer - Bill May
Secretary - Eleanor Traeg
VP Forum Development - Don Wolfe
Assistant Treasurer - Bill Becker

Following the business meeting, we had seven breakout sessions (names of facilitators follow the topic below):

Dialoguing with Liberals - Bob Nystrom
Republican Goals for 2008 - Keen Butcher
Media Bias - Larry Bickford
What is a Republican? What is a Conservative? - Bill May
Islamo-Fascism - Frank Lacy
The Second Amendment - Don Stone
The War in Iraq - Bill Becker

The fifty or more people who attended all had an opportunity to voice their opinion; and a great time was had by all.
