| Chuck DeVore spoke to a standing room only crowd of over 250. He said, "That which you tax, you get less of it. That which you subsidize, you get more of it." |
Our guest speaker in August was Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, who is a candidate for the United States Senate to unseat Barbara Boxer. In attracting a standing room only crowd of over 250 people, Chuck DeVore was articulate, knowledgeable and humorous. He talked about a variety of ideas, including the use of an asymmetrical campaign strategy to win the Senate seat in November, 2010.
Regarding campaign matters, Chuck indicated that things will not be so favorable for Barbara Boxer as they have been in her first three campaigns for Senate. With California unemployment "likely to be between 14-20%" in the Fall of 2010, and the Democrats being in control of the presidency, the House and the Senate for two solid years, Senator Boxer will have to take responsibility for what has transpired.
Chuck DeVore pointed out that conservatives and Republicans have a totally different world view than liberals and Democrats. Conservatives and Republicans, for the most part, believe that the rights guaranteed by the Constitution are inherent, and it is the government's responsibility to protect those rights from external threats, internal threats and lawlessness. Liberals and Democrats believe that one's rights are whatever the government decides are their rights.
He pointed out that liberal and Democrat policies are self-defeating. He mentioned the obvious, "That which you tax, you get less of it. That which you subsidize, you get more of it." The very things we need more of - success, energy, entrepreneurship - are taxed more and more by the Democrats. The very things that we need less of - failures, poverty, government programs - are subsidized by the Democrats.
Chuck DeVore proved before 250 conservatives that he will give Barbara Boxer a run for her money, and has an excellent chance to become the next United States Senator from the state of California.
