Eric LaMoe
 |
Eric LaMoe discussed various terrorist groups and the importance of the 2007 Protect America Act. |
Our guest speaker for our September meeting was Eric LaMoe, special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He discussed the various terrorist groups, and their widely different backgrounds. He indicated that the job of the FBI was to clearly identify potential terrorists, follow them, and then arrest them with enough evidence to convict them. He indicated that many of the terrorists live lives of crime, so often they are prosecuted on grounds other than terrorism.
Special Agent Eric LaMoe gave us a very thorough list of books on the history and background of terrorism. He also went through the many steps that FBI agents take to keep a lid on terrorism. He indicated that we are fighting terrorism on three fronts: foreign policy, public policy and legal policy. He pointed out the extreme importance of the passage of the FISA laws.
Eric LaMoe also indicated the importance of the 2007 Protect America Act. He entertained scores of questions, as his overall presentation and Q&A lasted over 90 minutes. As usual, our Conservative Forum audience demonstrated a great deal of knowledge on the topic.
At the beginning of the meeting, a special award was presented to Sam Brown in recognition of all of the hard work that he and his crew put in every month to set up the facility for our meeting. Approximately 80 members and guests attended.
