2005 Speakers
February 2005 - Don Wolfe
Who would have thought that over 100 conservatives would join at IHOP in Santa Clara on a Tuesday evening?
Anyone who happened to attend the meeting was entertained for over one hour. Conservative ideas and stories were shared by Jeff Katz of KNEW 910 Radio. There was continuous interest for 70-80 minutes as Jeff told his story, shared antidotes, and generally advocated conservative principles. In addition to getting a good dose of conservatism, there was an average of one belly laugh per minute throughout the evening.
Debra Saunders, a columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle, led a very lively discussion on being conservative in a liberal world. She pointed out many double standards that are reported in mainstream media newspapers.
There is a cancer growing in America with the innocuous name of Sustainable Development. Sustainable Communities, Sustainable Agriculture, Sustainable Fisheries etc. are all an outgrowth of the United Nation's insidious Sustainable Development plan. These UN plans are based on the premise that the environment is threatened, and only drastic action by self-styled elitists can save the world from certain destruction.
Our Santa Clara County Townhall/Conservative Forum of Silicon Valley had another outstanding meeting on Tuesday August 2nd. Don Irvine joined us from Washington, D.C. to discuss accuracy in media. In addition to being an excellent topic, that happens to be the name of his organization - Accuracy In Media (AIM).
Eric Lamoe, an FBI agent, addressed our Conservative Forum on the subject of terrorism. He talked about the fine line that the FBI has to walk between catching terrorists and the civil rights of Americans. He is confident and optimistic about the progress that the United States is making on a daily basis against terrorism.
Assemblyman Ray Haynes was an outstanding speaker. He endorsed the organization Values Advocacy Council, which is pushing for a Constitutional amendment to appear on the ballot in November, 2006 to once again establish and re-establish the concept that the only union recognized in the state of California is between a man and a woman. Following Jerry Sorensen's presentation on Proposition 75, Assemblyman Haynes also indicated the extreme importance of having that proposition pass.
